The Matchman universe is driven by a large ensemble of heroes, villains, and supporting figures – all designed for multi-media adaptation and protected by U.S. Copyright. Below is the core cast used across the comics, feature screenplay, and TV scripts.
“The Reconciler.” In everyday life he is genetics researcher Scott Suffix; in costume he protects relationships and reconciles conflicts – from a couple on the brink of breakup to two nations on the edge of war.
Hooded mastermind behind B.L.A.H. (Badguys Leagued Against Humanity). He profits from human misery and chaos and is Matchman’s primary nemesis. His true face is never seen.
Golden super-villainess wielding a mystic Apple of Discord that drives people apart. Matchman is secretly in love with her, which she finds endlessly amusing – and occasionally useful.
Matchman’s estranged twin brother, separated at birth and turned to the dark side. His power is the opposite of Matchman’s: he pushes people away and destroys bonds wherever he goes.
Co-founder of VALentine Complex and Matchman’s personal trainer. A martial arts master with an Oxford and Sandhurst background, he handles the heavy lifting when diplomacy fails.
Youngest Nobel Prize laureate in medicine and the scientific soul of VALentine Complex. She helped raise and educate Scott, and provides much of the technology behind Matchman’s missions.
Official sidekick and mystic teen heroine. Her psychic/astrological gifts are powerful and sometimes frightening even to her. She has a huge crush on Scott, which adds emotional complexity to the team.
The “match-stick man” who directs Matchman’s missions. A living bundle of giant matches, he is ironically terrified of open flame. His job is to send the team to the most urgent crises on Earth.
A genetic accident from New Mexico with the head of a donkey and the soul of a bandit. After years of ridicule he embraced crime and eventually joined B.L.A.H. as a chaotic field operative.
A skyscraper-sized creature composed of a million human tongues. Despite his origin, he can barely speak – and his loyalties are not as fixed as Dr. Dejection assumes.
A whole army of flying gremlin-archers whose arrows cause instant arguments, jealousy, and break-ups. They are the front-line weapon in many Matchman stories.
A deranged London villain in ceremonial uniform, obsessed with control and intimidation. His schemes bring Matchman into direct conflict with British institutions and media.
Niece and nephew to the founders of VALentine Complex. Corbin is logic and science; Clementine is physical courage. Together they save the day in “A Match Made in Heaven.”
Includes the Government Agent, Cute Girl, celebrity couple Bim Azlikk & Selena Moped, and other archetypal figures used to explore modern relationships and media culture.
